The International Conference McLuhan Galaxy Barcelona 2011 “Understanding Media, Today” is going to take place in Barcelona from May 23-25 to celebrate the centenary of the birth of Canadian thinker Marshall McLuhan. The event is organized by the Faculty of Communication, University Pompeu Fabra and the Interdisciplinary Internet Institute (IN3), Universitat Oberta de Catalunya / Open University of Catalonia, with the collaboration of CCCB-Lab, the Centre of Contemporary Culture of Barcelona.
Structured into thematic sessions, the conferences, presentations and round tables will count on the presence of international researchers such as Manuel Castells, Eric McLuhan, Derrick de Kerckhove, Robert K. Logan, Javier Echeverria, Alejandro Piscitelli, Ursula Heise, Javier Díaz Noci, Carlos A. Scolari and Bruce Powe, among others.
McLuhan Galaxy Barcelona 2011 will be held in the 22@ Barcelona, Innovation District, either in the Campus of Communication (UPF), in the IN3/UOC’s Mediatic building (Metro Glories) or in the CCCB. The activities developed in the latter will be open to public and simultaneous translation will be available.
